Julianne Marie (Markwart) Magneson, 59, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 after a long illness of cancer.
Julie was born September 27, 1950 in Brown City, Michigan to Robert and Audrey Markwart. She graduated from Capac High School in Capac, MI in 1968 and from Capital University in Columbus, OH in 1972 with a BA degree in Elementary Education.
Julie and Lee Magneson were married in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Capac on August 20, 1971. After Lee was ordained as a Lutheran pastor, she was a great support to him as he served various congregations.
She taught in elementary schools in OH and FL and in recent years she was a GED instructor for the Charlotte County Department of Corrections in FL.
Music was a special part of her life and she loved singing and playing the piano for the Saturday evening worship services at Hope Lutheran Church – Gulf Cove. She had years of experience singing in many church choirs. She loved the Lord, served Him faithfully and lived her life for Him.
Julie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years: Rev. Lee A. Magneson; son: Robert of Pt. Charlotte, FL; daughter: Melissa of Jacksonville, FL; and grandchildren: Gaige, Ivy, Noah, Lily and Rylan. Her family includes her parents: Robert and Audrey Markwart of Yale, MI; brothers: Terry Markwart of Miller Place, NY; Luther (Terri) Markwart of McLean, VA; sisters: Melanie (Jon) Arnold of Satellite Beach, FL; Heidi (David) Devereux of Clarkston, MI; sister-in-laws: Thelma Markwart of Shawnee, KS; Wendy (Louis) Johannes of Fredericksburg, MD; brother-in-laws: Dr. Gerald (Kris) Magneson of Boston, MA; Scott (Sandy) Magneson of Pt. Huron, MI; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother Andrew Markwart in 2006 and her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Nina and Elmer Magneson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 from 1 Pm until 3 Pm and 6 Pm until 8 Pm at the Englewood Community Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 3070 So. McCall Road, Englewood, FL. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 11 Am at the Hope Lutheran Church – Gulf Cove, 14200 Hopewell Ave., Pt. Charlotte, FL.
Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or Tidewell Hospice & Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 in memory of Julianne Magneson.
