Barbara Ann McGowan, 67, of Englewood died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at her Charlotte County residence.
Born on June 6, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York she had been a resident of Englewood for fifteen years coming from Brooklyn. She was a secretary for the NYC school system in NY prior to moving to Florida. Locally, Mrs. McGowan was employed by Tiffany Restaurant. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Survivors include her loving husband of twenty-four years: John T. McGowan of Englewood, FL; two daughters: Laura Robb of Englewood, FL; Karen Crum of Bradenton, FL; one step-daughter: Kelly McGowan of Brooklyn, NY; one brother: Richard Garms of Saratoga, NY; and eight grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her parents: Alfred and Helen (Boris) Garms; and a son, Paul Brodie.
A Memorial Mass will be said on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 2 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Parish with Father Adrian Wilde, officiating.
